VAMFF | David Jones Opening Show.

Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival began on Monday with the Opening Event sponsored by 

David Jones and supported by Vogue Australia, held at Central Pier, Docklands.

Over 3,000 guests witnessed the largest designer line-up of this years festival, featuring collections 

from top Australian designers including, Josh Goot, Christopher Esber, Camilla and Marc, Rachel 

Gilbert, Ellery, Lover and Bec & Bridge.

Youth Ambassador, Montana Cox, debuted her fresh peroxide locks since returning from the 

exclusive Givenchy runway in Paris.

STAND OUT MODELS: Tess Shanahan (1st image, and who I dressed in my first year as a volunteer), 

Abby Weir (4th & 10th - AusNTM alumni) and LJ Breton (2nd, middle) who I dressed last year.

STAND OUT LOOKS: the Jac & Jack collection (3rd & 2nd last).The all-white looks and knits stole my heart.

Daniela Stephanie Autumn/Winter 2014.

I'm a little excited to reveal the inspiration behind Daniela Stephanie Autumn/Winter 2014 

collection. With feminine design and near theatrical silhouettes, this range gives you that sense of nostalgia, 

of watching those romantic classical films and swooning over those high fashion garments and wanting 

every piece to appear in your wardrobe almost instantaneously.

If you hadn't already guessed, The Emerald City from the classic The Wizard of Oz was the sole 

influence behind this collection. It epitomises elegance with a stylistic and slightly dramatic edge.

Custom designed beading and embellishments, intricate embroidery, exquisite lace, tulle and textured 

fabrics add drama to each piece. While a colour palette of crisp white, charcoal, black and of course, 

emerald green, sealed with more softer tones of mandarin, aubergine and nude, keep the romantic and 

sophisticated feel alive. Each piece is handcrafted in Australia using the finest materials, combining 

minimalistic, chic daywear including camisoles, crop jackets, skirts, trousers and coats alongside more 

heavily feminine, stunning cocktail and evening gowns.

When I look at the gowns specifically, I am taken away to a fairytale land, one where I am covered 

head to toe in gorgeous beading and the softest nude tulle that sweeps the floor below.

I'm not kidding, this bikini set cost me $10 in total (on sale).

The water print is so vibrant in person and the fit, spot on.
I love the little gold detail on the back of the bikini bottoms. it's so subtle and perfectly placed.

This time instead of swimwear, Lara is releasing her own range of underwear.

From the sneak peek of behind the scenes at the shoot, the collection seems very relaxed, every day 

type of undergarments, made from soft cotton in basic colours of white, black and grey marle, aswell as 

fun prints including leopard; which has been carried through from her latest swim collection.

Lara's swimwear line was very successful, even selling out of a few designs, so it won't be 

surprising if her intimate range does as equally well.

It will be available to purchase in stores and online from the 17th of March.
